PC Open has been actively involved in the Security industry for several years and is now applying this expertise to the Home Security and Home Automation area.

The Home Security/Automation industry is now changing at an accelerated pace and will continue to do so for several years to come.One of the driving factors for this growth is the role of widely available and inexpensive digital encoders and processors. Utilizing this equipment PC Open designs and manufactures affordable and innovative products under the Securgen name. Securgen was founded by PC Open in 2004 to provide Home Automation and Security products to the mass market.

Leveraging the benefits of current Automation standards such as Z-Wave, Securgen provides Home Automation products such as thermostats, outlets, light switches, sprinkler controls, and more. All these products can be controlled by the Securgen SecurHome™ products which provide an easy centralized control interface that can be accessed from any television in the house.

Furthermore, the SecurHome products rely on the Microsoft® Media Center Edition® operating system to provide a wide range of Home Entertainment possibilities.

Securgen has further expanded on PC Open’s enterprise security technology in many of its products. By creating easy to use front end interfaces (while still leaving intact the powerful backend), home security can now rely on more than just a few simple alarms. Securgen now provides secure video recording to any home residence at an affordable price.
