December 11, 2002
Spokane WA
Today PC Open announced its product listing with Underwriter
Labratories (UL/ cUL). UL is an independent, not-for-profit
product-safety testing and certification organization with more
than 100 years of field experience. “This is yet another example
our commitment to our product’s overall quality and its
operational safety,” said James Durning, Certification Manager
for PC Open. Mr. Durning also indicated PC Open would be
pursuing the necessary safety and emissions certifications for
the European Union in 2003.
At this time, PC Open’s product line is also FCC Class B
certified. Established in 1975, products sold under part 15
include,
“Equipment that does not deliberately generate RF energy, as
well as at low-power radio transmitters that do not require
individual licensing. Part 15 affects a larger variety of
electronic devices than does any other FCC regulation, imposing
RF emissions limits on TV sets and radios, personal computers
and peripherals, remote controls for home alarms and auto
accessories, paging receivers, commercial networking systems,
cable TV boxes, and electronic toys”. [1]
Originally created by the Communications Act of 1934, the FCC
regulates interstate and international communications by radio,
television, wire, satellite and cable. Its jurisdiction covers
the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, and U.S.
possessions.[2]
