PCO Switches to Embedded XP for its Security Products
January 9, 2006 Spokane WA
SPOKANE, WASH. – JANUARY 09, 2006 – PCO Inc., announced
today that it has begun using the Microsoft® Embedded XP®
operating systems to run many of its OpenEye Security products.
Embedded XP provides an increased level of security. By removing
many of the unnecessary components that make up Windows XP, a
more simple, scaled down platform creates added security. “We
have thoroughly tested Windows XP embedded and are quite pleased
with its security features,” said Cary Whitehead, OpenEye’s
system engineer.
Furthermore, PCO is in the development phase for integrating the
native support Windows XP provides for recording CD’s. “Windows
XP makes it easier for users to backup their video data,” said
Whitehead. “Anytime we can reduce steps a user must perform to
accomplish a task the better.”
OpenEye has been in the testing process for several months and
is now officially switching all applicable products to the new
Operating System. By mid-January, all PC based OpenEye products
will contain the software changes.
